Frequently Asked Questions

Currently, Scadd Draft is compatible
with AutoCAD 2000, 2000I, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and Architectural Desktop 3.3, 2004 & 2005. Since
Scadd uses basic AutoCAD entities for all of its database, there is no need
for an object enabler. Therefore, all work done in Scadd is directly compatible
when sharing files with a client. If you need further assistance, please see our Online Help.

Is Scadd Draft compatible with AutoCAD
LT? |
|
Scadd Draft is not compatible with AutoCAD
LT. This is because Scadd uses AutoCAD's Application Program Interface
which allows Scadd Draft to perform many of its high end functions. However,
we have found that the value and productivity increase you receive when
using Scadd Draft far outweighs the cost of upgrading to the full version
of AutoCAD. It will literally pay for itself on the first job you use it
on. Please see our Testimonials. |

After I install the Demo, will I be
able go back to drawing without Scadd Draft? |
|
Yes, when you install Scadd Draft, a new profile will be
created in AutoCAD called Scadd Draft. When you click on the Scadd
Draft icon after setup, AutoCAD is started and the Scadd Draft profile
is set as the current profile. If you wish to go back to your previous
way of drawing without Scadd Draft, simply go to the AutoCAD options dialog
box and click on the "Profiles" tab. Highlight your previous profile you
used or highlight the <<unnamed profile>> if no other exists,
then click on the Set Current button. This will reset all of your previous
AutoCAD settings. If you are using Architectural Desktop, you may need
to restart the program after setting to the "Architectural Desktop" profile.

|
 |
How do I uninstall the Demo? |
|
To uninstall Scadd Draft, simply go to your Window Control
Panel and click on Add/Remove programs. You will find Scadd Draft
for AutoCAD... in the program list. Highlight the program and click on
the "Change/Remove" button and follow the uninstall wizard instructions.

 |
Scadd Draft will not complete the install.
I receive the following error message: "Setup could not complete configuration
of Scadd Draft. Please close all programs, restart computer, then try
running setup again." |
|
If this error appears during setup, this indicates that
the setup program could not copy the existing AutoCAD's <<Unnamed
Profile>> to create the Scadd Draft Profile. There could be two reasons
for this.
- The computer is low on resources at the time of installation
for the setup to copy the profile before setup continues.
Solution:
- Close all programs, restart the computer and try running setup
again with no other programs running.
- AutoCAD's <<Unnamed Profile>> is corrupted.
Solution:
- Start the AutoCAD product you wish to install Scadd Draft
on.
- From the Edit menu choose Options.
- Click on the Profiles tab.
- Highlight the <<Unnamed Profile>> and click on
Set Current.
- Click on the OK button at the bottom of the dialog box.
- Exit AutoCAD and try running setup again.
If these steps do not solve the problem, please
e-mail our Technical Support staff,
and they will be glad to assist you. |

What are Scale Fences? |
|
Scale
Fences allow a user to create plans, elevations, sections and details
in different scales without ever having to change a dimstyle, linetype or
textstyle. Once a Scale Fence is drawn, any drafting done within that boundary
will be automatically adjusted for the scale set for that fence. Scadd will
dynamically adjust all settings on the fly. You will never have to worry
about text height again! |
|
 |
What does the Scadd Draft Control Panel
do? |
|
The Scadd Draft Control
Panel allows a user or CADD Manager to set up different CADD Standards
as well as customize Scadd Draft to meet your company’s drafting needs.
Add as many standards as you wish. A standard is saved with the drawing.
Scadd will automatically change to the standard for that drawing. By using
the Control Panel, Scadd Draft will maintain all layers, textstyles, dimstyles,
annotation, borders, blocks, system variables and user preferences. |

We already have a library of shapes
and tools, what does Scadd Draft offer? |
|
Scadd Draft is more than just a library of shapes and tools. Scadd Draft
is a structural drafting program. Since its conception, production has been
the main focus of the programming. Though Scadd Draft is very extensive, we have
tried to keep things simple by keeping the number of steps or “clicks” down
to a minimum. In addition, it has been our objective to take care of all
the mundane tasks that involve a drawing setup and allow the designer to
focus on the design. Yes, Scadd Draft has a full library of steel, concrete,
bar-joist, timber as well as fasteners, reinforcement and connections. However,
Scadd Draft offers a complete package that is simple and intuitive to allow
you be more productive engineer or technician. It has been our experience
that users will greatly increase their AutoCAD capability in a very short
period of time. Click

 |
Does Scadd Draft have any 3d drawing
capability? |
|
Yes. One of the great features of Scadd Draft is its ability
to draw your building in three-dimensional space. This is achieved through
the Scadd
Draft Level Manager. The Level Manager allows you to easily work on
multiple floors. Scadd Draft will manage all the all the layers, text, dimensions
and annotation for you. Copy or Move entities from one level to another.
Change a floor level height. Work in real world elevations and coordinates.
|
|
 |
What advantage is there in using the
Scadd Draft Level Manager? |
|
When using the Scadd
Draft Level Manager, you can work in real world elevations. This allows
Scadd Draft to maintain bottom-of-footing elevations, top-of-steel elevations
etc. When using the Scadd Draft Footing Scheduler, all the elevations for
the bottoms of footings are automatically generated. After you have inserted
your footings, Scadd Draft can automatically create a footing schedule. If your
floor elevations change, make the adjustment in the Level Manager and all
of your footing elevations will automatically be adjusted. In addition, make a
change in footing size and/or reinforcement and the Footing Schedule will
dynamically be updated! |

In AutoCAD 2004 & 2005, my system
crashed when I try to view and/or add toolbars. |
|
This occurs on some machines running AutoCAD/Architectural Desktop 2004 or 2005. To resolve
this issue, after starting AutoCAD or ADT, type in SCADD at the command prompt and
press enter. This will re-compile the AutoCAD and Scadd menus which will
solve the problem. You only need to do this fix one time. |
