The weld symbol function allows you to create a weld symbol leader. The function starts out like a typical leader function, however the tail (weld line) is a fixed length and the user need only to choose a direction.
Steps:
Pick leader arrow point (welding point)
Pick next point
Pick direction of weld line (or choose "c" for the continue option)
This is the main dialog box for creating a weld symbol. Here you can choose your weld options. The dialog box shows you which weld is current. In this case notice that a 1/4" Fillet Weld on the Arrow Side with a pitch of 2-12 is current. To change the type of weld or its location, click on one of the weld buttons:
Arrow Side: Draws a weld symbol on the arrow side of the connection.
Other Side: Draws a weld symbol on the other side of the connection.
Both Sides: Draws two weld symbols for the arrow and other side of the connection.
Field Weld: Click Yes to draw a field weld flag and No to omit flag.
All Around: Click Yes to draw All Around symbol and No to omit symbol.
Tail: Click Yes to Add Notes to the Tail of the weld symbol.
Staggard: Check this box to stagger the weld symbols in the case of welds on both sides.
Favorties: Click this butto to save the current weld parameters to a list of favorite weld types.
Clear: Click this button to clears all the weld parameters.
The weld symbol dialog box gives you the typical AWS weld symbols. Notice that this dialog box corresponds to the Arrow Side buttons (weld symbol below the weld line).
Steps:
Click on weld type
Choose size (optional)
Choose root (optional)
Choose angle (optional)
Click on edit box and choose a length and pitch of the weld (optional)
Weld symbols may be modified after the weld symbol has been drawn. Just click on Edit Weld symbols on the Annotation - Leaders Button Bar or under the Annotation pull-down menu.

Typical Weld symbols that are used frequently can be stored in a list of favorites to be recalled at a later date or to use with the quick weld button. To save the current weld symbol parameters to a list of favorites, first set all the desired parameters of the weld then click on the favorites button at the main weld dialog box shown above. Below is a sample of some favorite welds.
Type the desired name in the "Name" edit box.
Click on the "Add" button.
Highlight the favorite to remove.
Click on the "Delete" button.
Highlight the favorite weld type.
Type the new name in the "Name" edit box.
Click on the "Rename" button.
To load a favorite weld symbol into the main weld dialog
box, double-click on an item in the favorite list.
Now that you have added your favorite Weld Symbols to the list (see "Favorites" above), try using the quick weld button. Just click on the "Quick Weld" button found on the Annotation - Leaders Button Bar or under the Annotation pull-down menu.
Click on the "Quick Weld" button.
Double-click on the desired weld in the favorites list.
Draw weld as described above.
