Scale Fences

Scale Fences are probably the most simplest yet most powerful and useful tool in Scadd Draft.  The concept is to draw a rectangle around the area that you wish to have a particular scale associated with.  Therefore, anything that you draw "inside the box" will be drawn that the scale that was chosen for that particular Scale Fence.  This is the key to drawing multiple scale details and plans in model space.  The following shows a typical detail with a scale fence around the detail.

The Scale fence here is for a scale of 1 1/2"=1'-0".  Notice the linetype of the scale fence has a notation of 1 1/2, showing you visually the scale.  Also, Scadd maintains a status bar at the bottom of the AtuoCAD window showing you the current scale.

Creating a Scale Fence:

Steps:

  1. Under the Scadd Menu, click on a Custom fence or one of the predefined fences below.

  2. Select a scale from the dialog box.

  3. For a custom fence, click on start and end point defining a rectangular fence. For a predefined fence, place the fence on the drawing

That's it!  Now when ever you draw within that area, Scadd will adjust all your text, ltscale, dimscales, annotation as required for the scale that you chose for that fence.

Tip: There is one requirement when drawing within scale fences, the center of your screen needs to be somewhere inside the scale fence.  Typically this is the case anyway whereas you need to be close enough to the detail to see it.
